While cars were being washed we invited the drivers and passengers to come into the church building for a tour. Over 100 people toured the building. Women from the three wards provided homemade cookies and punch. One visitor was excited when he saw that we had a large indoor basketball court and that there was a Saturday morning "pick-up game" in progress. He abandoned the building tour and joined in the game.
Following the carwash, Joyce and I treated all of our exhausted missionaries (it was 90 degrees with very high humidity) to Burger King for lunch. The Burger King is directly next to the church.
Reading the stories and seeing the pictures on this blog make me so excited to be an elder in the Philadelphia Mission starting this October. I can't wait to join the ranks and look forward to all a mission has to offer!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great event idea, and what a success! Great work, President Murray!
