Mission Presidents' Seminar in Palmyra

Joyce and I joined eleven other mission presidents and their wives from Oct 14-17 in Palmyra, NY for a Mission Presidents Seminar. Our trainers were Elder David A. Bednar (and his wife) from the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and Elder Jay E. Jensen (and his wife) from the presidency of the Seventy.

This small gathering provided a unique and special opportunity to be spiritually uplifted, educated and motivated. I received a number of new ideas that will strengthen and improve our mission.

In addition to the formal training, we were also able to attend a temple session at the Palmyra Temple and to visit the Hill Cumorah, the Sacred Grove, the Smith Farm and the EB Grandin Print Shop (location of where the first edition of the Book of Mormon was printed).

Love the pictures of your trip. It must have been a great experience.

Who is the giant of a man with his arm around you?

  2. The giant of a man with his arm around me is Don Pugh, President of the Pennsylvania Harrisburg Mission. Don is a friend from the Seattle area. We've known each other for a number of years. It's unusual to have two local church leaders servings "next-door" missions at the same time. Don is not a giant of a man. He is 5 foot 9 inches. This photo is actual proof that I am the world's smallest man.

  3. One of the sister missionaries who gave you a tour at the visitors center was a Sister Stucki from the Seattle First Ward. She reported sharing her testimony at the Cristus statue. It was her 2nd or 3rd week out from the MTC.

    Small world.
