Next Best Thing to Being There

It is a privilege to serve a mission for three years. We see the hand of the Lord touching the lives of our missionaries, church leaders and members on a regular basis. Nonetheless, we do miss our family! Thank goodness for iChat on our Mac computers. This allows us to easily have real-time video conversations with my father, our children and our grandchildren.

  1. Dear President and Sister Murray,

How wonderful to read of your experiences in the mission field. I can also certainly relate to the wonderful blessing of being able to communicate long distance through webcam. I was teaching in Senegal all of last year and couldn't have done it without talking and seeing my children, grand-children, and friends.
You might wonder why I'm reading your blog. Well, last Wednesday I accompanied my youngest daughter to the MTC. Sister Custer will be joining you around Nov. 24th. We were both very excited about her call and her opportunity to serve.
I told her I was even a bit jealous. My own mission in the northern Italy Milan region (wow has it been 30 yrs already!) was definetely a highlight in my life. I know Arielle will be a tremendous missionary. She has prepared herself well and with much anticipation for many years.
I'm looking forward to hearing more about the mission through your blog!

  2. President Murray, are you camera shy? I enjoy reading about your families experiences and seeing Sister Murray, But I wonder who the man behind the camera is. Don't be shy, "Photo Shop" really helps.
I too, along with Sister Berube, feel that it is wonderful to share your experiences with us (families of missionaries). Your blogs, along with Sister Adkins' letters, help us experience her mission right along with those of you that have been chosen to serve at this time. I have a son that will be entering the mission field in Janurary, so we are excited about twice the experiences.
May our Father in Heaven continue to bless you and your family for your sacrifices. May he also continue to bless the missionaries and members of that GREAT mission.
