We enjoyed teaching a middle aged woman in Rising Sun, Maryland. She first encountered Mormon missionaries as a 14 year old living in North Philadelphia. Even though she grew up in a strong, traditional Catholic home, she remembered something special about the missionaries and their message. She recently responded to a TV commercial about the Church -- requesting a free video. The video was delivered to her by Elders Covington and Hoxer.
She is now in the horns of a familiar dilemma. She has been searching for the "truth" for 25+ years. She left the Catholic Church and attends, with her husband, another Christian denomination. But something has always been missing. The feelings of a 14 year old girl were renewed when she watched the requested video and visited with the missionaries.
Sitting at her kitchen table, we encouraged her to replace her fear with faith. And to trust the God knows her and her family. And to remember the Gospel is designed to bring deep happiness and peace to her life. I am reminded of a scriptural gem found in Psalms, "Be still and know that I am God."
