Sweet is the Work

This past week Joyce and I both had opportunities to work with our missionaries. On Friday Joyce spent the day with Sisters Vance, Reed and McKinnon -- teaching lessons and knocking on doors! Sister McKinnon goes home in two weeks. She has been a wonderful missionary.
I am often with my two Assistants, Elder Bosshardt and Elder Folz. Last night we spent 3 hours together as we discussed the needs of the mission. These two elders are blessed with great faith, incisive minds and warm, loving personalities. Elder Folz goes home in two weeks will be greatly missed.

Hymn #147 - Sweet is the Work

Sweet is the work, my God, my King,
To praise thy name, give thanks and sing,
To show thy love by morning light,
And talk of all thy truths at night.

Sweet is the day of sacred rest.
No mortal care shall seize thy breast.
Oh, may my heart in tune be found,
Like David's harp of solemn sound!

My heart shall triumph in my Lord
And bless his works and bless his word.
Thy works of grace, how bright they shine!
How deep thy counsels, how divine!

But, oh, what triumph shall I raise
To thy dear name through endless days,
When in the realms of joy I see
Thy face in full felicity!

Text: Isaac Watts, 1674-1748

  1. Hey, neat blog. Thanks for putting this together. Our son Elder Hymas is in your mission. We too are on a mission. We were serving in St. Lucia, but have just transfered to Guyana. You might enjoy our mission blog. West Indies Mission. Perhaps there are ideas we could share back and forth. Can our son see what we are doing on our mission by checking our blog at scot and jeralie in st. lucia? Thanks for all you are doing for our missionaries. It's great to be a missionary!
