National Bible Week is celebrated the week of Thanksgiving every year since 1941. Governors and Mayors from across the country proclaim National Bible Week in their states and towns. Congressional co-chairs from the House and Senate enter National Bible Week statements into the Congressional Record, and every US President since Franklin D. Roosevelt has issued a National Bible Week Message.
Missionaries serving in the inner-city areas of Philadelphia took part in this year's National Bible Week by going to busy street corners and handing out "pass-along" cards with an offer for a free Bible. In addition some of them stood like missionaries of old and preached from the Bible to any and all.
